About Christie's Country Crafts
Linda & Ken Christie make all their crafts by hand, from the trees right on their property in Acworth, New Hampshire. They start by cutting wood slices from trees on their land. Ken then sands and finishes the wood slices and prepares them for painting by his wife, Linda.
Linda uses acrylic paints to paint her designs on different size woodslices. She paints Christmas Ornaments and Magnets on woodslices of ash, oak, and cherry from 4” to 5” in length and 2” to 3” in width. The Coasters and Bird Plaques are a little larger. The Clock designs are painted on Bass wood and are approximately 12” to 14” long and 8” to 10” wide. It’s impossible to give exact measurements as each piece of wood is a little different.
Ken has created Woodslice 8”x10” and 5”x7” Picture Frames with or without clocks from aspen wood. He cuts, sands, and finishes them using two stains, a light one and a dark one.
Ken also takes photographs of nature which he frames and mats. He makes note cards from these photos also. Ken feels the image that you see today may never be seen again, but a photograph can save it for a lifetime and beyond. |
